He Is My Value

"Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. I thank you High God- you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration- what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you. The days of my life all prepared before I'd even live one day." Psalm 139:13-16

I seem to always be searching for value, and every time I think I've found it I hit a wall and the feeling of emptiness comes back. No matter what I do, or what I try nothing ever fills me up except Him. He created me, He knows me better than myself and yet I continue to turn away. When will I realize that people and things will never satisfy me. That family, friends, boys, facebook, food, even youth group and church cannot fill me up. I'm begging for mercy which I do not deserve. Please, help me keep my eyes on You, and help me always make You the center of my life.

The Bread of Life

John 6:35 "Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.'"
Throughout the past two years I have experienced many trials and hardships. Sometimes I feel like I'm standing in the middle of a whirlwind, surrounded by confusion, anger, bitterness, greed, death, mourning, loss, selfishness, and hate. Yet I am able to find peace and be completely filled through Christ. I've come to a new understanding of what it means for Christ to be the bread of life. Lately I have been craving a father's love, acceptance, and unconditional love. I've come to the realization that I cannot get that from my earthly father, family, friends or even my family in Christ. No matter how hard I try to fill this longing with things and people I will always be hungry and will always thirst. One by one God has taken things Iused to "fill my satisfaction" and I've instead been forced to come to him on my knees and ask him to be my bread and water, and He has indeed filled me continuously like never before.

Miriam-I Am Apart of a Bigger Plan

Sometimes it is so difficult for me to look past tomorrow and realize that God has so much planned for my life. I have to continuously remind myself that He will use me in ways that I cannot even imagine. When I read Exodus 2 I am reminded that like Miriam I am apart of a bigger plan which I cannot see.
I cannot even to begin to imagine what must have been going through Miriam's mind. Only being a young child and having Pharaoh command that every son born to the Hebrews be thrown into the Nile, which included her baby brother Moses. After her family hid him for three months Miriam put Moses in a basket and placed him among the reeds of the Nile. How much faith and bravery that act must have taken! Without Miriam's courage so many events would have took place, including the escape of the Israelites.
It is so unbelievably difficult to obey God in difficult situations when you may never see the outcome of your faith and obedience. I need to remind myself that God sees and knows all and He has everything planned out. I am apart of such a bigger plan which I cannot see, meaning that I need to fall to my knees daily and obey God in every area of my life no matter how difficult it is. If Miriam could put her baby brother in the Nile river not knowing if she would ever see him again, I can do anything through Christ.

Mary and Martha

Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42

"God has intended this world to be Mary first, then Martha. God built this world to be a Mary world with Martha moments. Now, in Genesis 3, when sin enters the world and our work becomes cursed and laborious toil, it turned into a Martha world in which we have to fight for Mary moments." -Mark Driscoll

Yesterday I listened to a sermon about Jesus' good friends Mary and Martha. Martha was the kind of women who was always making to do lists, cleaning, and thinking about what needed to be done next. Mary on the other hand was more concerned about getting her time with Jesus first. I am convicted of having neither Mary or Martha moments in my life. I allow precious time to slip away, and I know that God is just begging me to put my priorities in order. Begin with Mary and then go on to Martha. I need to make sure that my time with God comes first and then I get things accomplished. God give me grace and discipline to see this through.

I Pick Ruth!

This week I have been reading and studying the book of Ruth for a girls Bible study a church. Yesterday I listened to a sermon on the first two chapters by Mark Driscoll and he was talking about how we need to make decisions about our attitude, we can either be an Orpah, Naomi, or a Ruth. We can try the whole christianity thing until it gets hard and then leave like Orpah. We can be bitter with God such as Naomi. (sidenote: What I thought was a cool perspective was that he said if you are going to be bitter with God at least be honest like Naomi was. Don't walk into church and plaster a fake smile on your face and pretend everything is totally cool when you really want to scream. Be honest with your brothers and sisters in Christ about where you are in your walk with God.) Or we could be like Ruth, unsure of our future and scared but willing to trust fully in our King.
I choose Ruth! Like Ruth we don't have much money right now, and I'm not sure how we will pay the bills or get enough food. In terms of family its pretty much me and my mom, and there is no man to provide. Plus my mom and I have only lived here a year, we don't have the neighbors next door that we've known forever and are best friends with. But like Ruth I will choose God no matter what! I will make a choice day in and day out to be faithful and give thanks to the Lord for making me strong through these trials and providing what he does. I will NOT allow Satan to mess with me. I am God's kid and I know the truth. Like Ruth, I choose God and I choose to have joy in all circumstances. Who knows, maybe I will even get a Boaz through all of this! haha :) :)
